Dear watch aficionado.
Herewith I present you my picks for the upcoming auction of Sotheby's in Hong Kong on October 6.
I will start with this beautiful Rolex 6610 Explorer with the much sought after red depth rating. The watch looks like having a very warm and beautiful patina to the dial and the catalogue does state this rare example in excellent condition. Lot N°2051. Estimate 9 292€ - 13 938€.
The second watch I picked is an example of the very interesting and much sought after Rolex 6556 Tru-Beat. Due to the fact that the dead-beat second mechanism is very hard to work on, most of these watches had been taken out the mechanism. So it makes this a rare example with the mechanism still intact. The condition report does state this example in overall very good condition. Lot N°2053. Estimated 5 807€ - 8 130€.
The third watch that I picked is an extraordinary example of the legendary Patek Philippe 2523/1 with a beautiful guilloché dial and this one has never been offered before at an auction. Only 20 pieces made of this example and the condition report of Sotheby's does state this timepiece in excellent condition. We will probably see the price explode on this one. Lot N°2219. Estimated 464 597€ - 638 821€.
For my fourth timepiece, I move forward a bit in the period of time to a more recently watch. A superb and very rare A. Lange & Söhne Richard Lange Tourbillon pour le mérite Handwerkskunst! An outstanding timepiece in my eyes, limited to 15 pieces and this one is number 02/15. The more, in the condition report of Sotheby's they state that this excellent example seems to be unworn and that it lasted in the safe for a long time! LOT N°2197. Estimated 203 261€ - 255 528€.
