NEW Benzinger ONE project - Patek Philippe for Tiffany & Co. ----> the finished timepiece

Dear watch aficionado.

Since my last post for my Benzinger ONE - Patek Philippe for Tiffany & Co. project there was a lot that happened and we are very proud and honoured to announce that we have finished this extraordinary timepiece now. You can follow the complete path of the making for this sublime timpiece by clicking on the links as follows: 1st click here, 2nd click here, 3rd click here, 4th click here, 5th click here and 6st click here.

After an enormous amount of hours of pure craftsmanship, guilloché-main, gravé-main, squeletté-main, the result of the finished timepiece is really something very special and unique and a completely different timepiece than the original movement from Patek with so many beautiful details to discover. The movement itself is from ca. 1920 and was made by Patek Philippe for Tiffany & Co. To build a timepiece like the present is like to build a tailor-made suit for your client. You can see that the stitches are made by a person and not like in the industrie and mass-production by machines. On the watch you can see that the engravings are done by hand, that the guilloché is made like 100 years ago, that the squelette is done by hand.

The amazing and extraordinary front view of this unique and very special timepiece, with all it small and very spcial details to discover

The original Patek Philippe for Tiffany & Co. movement on the first fitting into the case, without the finissage done yet

The amazing and extraordinary back view of this unique and very special timepiece, with all it small and very spcial details to discover

The original Patek Philippe for Tiffany & Co. movement on the first fitting into the case, without the finissage done yet

The Calatrava cross, perfectly gravé-main and than pink gold gilted

The barillet, guilloché-main (like the other parts as well) with its nice maltheser cross, finished in dark grey and pink gold

The bridge that holds the balance from the dial side, nice finished with a superb gravé-main pattern

The hands which are from the same period, nicely flame blued

The design and the final result

The engravings on the movement, we left all original and filled it with black lacquer to have a nice contrast

The balance coq with its superb gravé-main pattern. The engraving "slow and fast" we left all original and filled it with black lacquer to have a nice contrast

This is as well the last Benzinger ONE that we have made and we only made 6 timepieces overall! But in future there will be more projects coming together with Grieb & Benzinger and the names will be Ferum, Aurum and Platinum. So I warmly invite you to stay tuned for the next timepieces that will be released, And if you want to have your own, personalized Grieb & Benzinger "Ferum, Aurum or Platinum" timepiece, I warmly invite you to contact me by e-mail on the following address info@watchcollector.lu so that we can discuss and design your own, unique and extraordinary timepiece. I'd be very pleased and honoured to receive your requests.

Big thanks as well to my client who allowed me to present his timepiece here on my blog.

Kind regards.

George Daniels Millennium white gold ----> Sotheby's London, April 25th

Dear watch aficionado.

When watches like this one are coming up for sale, I am always getting so nervous and excited. As everybody knows, the Millennium series was the last one that Dr. George Daniels was working on, well the prototype. (after the Millennium series there was as well the Daniels Anniversary in 2009 for the 35 years of the co-axial movement, this entire series was finished by Roger Smith in his own atelier, limited to 35 pieces).

The Millennium series was made by Roger W. Smith (who is creating amazing timepieces today),  with some help and advices from George Daniels, as at that time, Roger Smith started to work at the atelier of George Daniels. The Millennium series was limited to only 50 pieces overall and there were only 8 made in white gold and 42 in yellow gold plus the prototype in yellow gold. The movement was based on a Omega calibre 2500 and fitted with the slim co-axial escapement and gravé-main & guilloché-main finished. The later Daniels Anniversary series was fitted with an entirely in house developed movement (dial design was inspired by the Tourbillon pocket watch) with the single wheel co-axial escapement invented by Roger Smith and made at the atelier of Roger Smith who started his own workshop after the completion of the Millennium series in 2001.

The estimate is 80 000£ - 120 000£. The last Millennium that was sold, was a yellow gold at Bonhams in 2014 which ended at 180 000€.

I'd say that this is pretty much a one off chance to acquire a Millennium in white gold and if my pockets were deeper, I would go for it! Here as well the direct link to Sotheby's: http://www.sothebys.com/en/auctions/2017/watches-sale-l17053.html

Benzinger by Zanella ---> at my boutique

Dear watch aficionado.

I would like to present you this extraordinary "Benzinger by Zanella" timepiece. This is a project that I started to think about, after my first project that I had in 2012 to support the foundation "Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner" (Foundation for children with cancer), I designed two watches that were entirely spent to the foundation. In 2014 I finally realized my "Benzinger by Zanella" project and this project is meant as well to support the foundation "Een Haerz fir Kriibskrank Kanner" (A heart for children with cancer). For every watch sold I do spend 500€ to the foundation.

I thought already in 1999 to support one day foundations that do support children with cancer or other diseases due to the death of my grand-mother by cancer. So these projects that I started and that I will continue in future do mean a lot to me personally.

This is the first watch Benzinger by Zanella available at my boutique.

This one represents a beautiful landscape in the Provence with the Mont Ventoux in the background. When taking a closer look to the photos, you can recognize the different layers of the oil color on the canvas.
