Dear watch aficionado.
To make choices in a highly extraordinary sale like the one organized by Aurel Bacs and his team at Phillips Watches is quite a bit a challenge. I mean, after their outstanding auction "Geneva auction ONE" they were able to create another sale "Geneva auction TWO" which will be held on November 7 and 8 with massive superlative timepieces and I am quite sure that we will see more great sales coming in future by Phillips watches. The direct link to their sale: http://phillips.com/auctions/auction/CH080515
I will start with this extremely rare and beautiful Vacheron & Constantin 6026 in pink gold, 36mm case size. Only 25 pieces made of this reference and only 6 in pink gold! Lot N°178. Estimated 30 000 CHF - 50 000 CHF.
The second Vacheron & Constantin chronographe which I do love so much is the legendary 6087 with the cornes de vache lugs. This very special 6087 comes with a yellow gold case of which are only 28 pieces known. Lot N°131. Estimated 50 000 CHF - 100 000 CHF.
I do love minute repeating timepieces, especially early minute repeaters. This one is a very special, it is a Audemars Piguet minute repeater in platinum from 1929 retailed by Cartier and belonged to Henry Haven Windsor Jr. bearing the "H.H.WINDSOR 200 E. ONTARIO ST. CHICAGO" engraving on the back. This timepiece looks to be in a stunning condition for its age. Lot N°233. Estimated 300 000 CHF - 600 000 CHF.
The next one is a superb Universal Genève Tri-Compax. In the first sale in May, Phillips Watches did offer already one with original Gay Frères bracelet and it was sold for 24000 (hammer price). We will see where this example will end up. Lot N°202. Estimated 6 000 CHF - 9 000 CHF.
And yes, I do love as well split second chronographes. This one is a very interesting Record split second chronogrpahe from 1945 with a pretty large case for that time at 37.5mm which is a perfect size today. I do love the very clean design of the two tone dial with gold hour indexes matching the gold hands. Lot N°228. Estimated 12 000 CHF - 18 000 CHF.
Now I am turning towards Rolex, with their first Oyster chronographe, the legendary 4048. The present watch seems to be in very good condition. Lot N°161. Estimated 60 000 CHF - 90 000 CHF.
And another legendary Rolex references, the 3525. This one is a very special piece with a beautifully patinated yellow gold case, mirror gunmetal, in combination with black gilt dial and yellow gold bracelet. Lot N°223. Estimated 200 000 CHF - 400 000 CHF.
Now coming to Patek Philippe and I will start with one of my favorite references, the 565. This one comes with a steel case in combination with a beautiful black dial and fresh to the market! The black dial in combination with arabic and dot numerals was never seen before. Plus, the black dial is confirmed by the extract from the archives! I just love this piece. Lot N°251. Estimated 100 000 CHF - 200 000 CHF.
And another Patek Philippe that I felt immediately in love is this superb 530 steel with multitone dial and Breguet numerals featured in the legendary book "Patek Philippe steel watches" by John Goldberger. Lot N°269. Estimated 200 000 CHF - 400 000 CHF.
The last watch that I did chose from this outstanding sale is this superb 3700/1A Nautilus with Gübelin signature. Only 3 examples are know with signature! The plus it comes with its original box and service hang tag. Lot N°107. Estimated 20 000 CHF - 30 000 CHF.
