Geneva auctions, November 2024 ----> Patek Philippe, Rolex, Breguet, Derek Pratt, FPJ, Dufour

 Dear watch aficionado.

Herewith I want to show you some of the timepieces that I could inspect during the auction weekend this month in Geneva. Some very spectacular, beautiful and rare watches were up for sale again.

Kind regards.

ChB

These five superb Patek Philippe timepieces were sold by Sotheby's. I wanted to have a photo with these five watches together as it really shows some horological importance in one photo.

  • 2499 first series, pink gold, Wenger case
  • 1518 pink gold
  • 2499 second series, yellow gold, with modified bracelet
  • 1436 with all gravé & émaillé dial, probably unique
  • 1563 yellow gold, unique with the lume dial

These three timepieces I really love to see, sold at Phillips. Especially the Derek Pratt Oval Tourbillon, a watch that I know for the past 10 years and which means a lot to me. Then there was the François Paul Journe Tourbillon 15/93 which was really great to see in metal. Looking forward if the N°11/91 (which is in the personal collection of Mr. Journe himself) ever comes to the market. And then there was as well a previously unknown Philippe Dufour Duality.

Another watch that I really loved to see is the following Breguet calendrier perpetuel with retrograde date from the mid 1930s. A watch that really has a great appearance on the wrist and a very nice aura. It was sold at Christie's.

The more, Christie's had this very nice Rolex 6062 pink gold Stelline in their auction and this nice and early Daniel Roth Tourbillon Régulateur.

At Antiquorum I had a look at this early François Paul Journe Tourbillon N°24, where the number is engraved on the caseback. I think that there are only three FPJ Tourbillon known with this type of serial engraving on the caseback.

Good ol days ---> Patek Philippe 3483

 Dear watch aficionado.

Thinking about the good ol days with this beautiful Patek Philippe 3483 in stainless steel. The beautiful argenté, satiné soleil finished dial gives it a very discreet presence on the wrist. The 35mm case was made by Jean Vallon, who was as well the producer of the case for the 3417.

This 3483 is available at my boutique www.watchcollector.lu

NEW at my boutique ---> Rolex 18206PT, Full Set, as new, sticker, original invoice, original guarantee

 Dear watch aficionado.

NEW available at my boutique www.watchcollector.lu is this superb:

Rolex 18206 Platinum, 1989

Unpolished, as new

Original guarantee, invoice, purchase receipt, hang tag, green Sticker & Box

To find one of these Rolex 18206 Day-Date’s in such pristine condition is rarely seen now a days. This example which was sold in 1989 at Bucherer (R series) comes in unpolished condition and can be described as new.

It features the beautiful early silver soleil finished dial with its sparkling diamond set hour indices. The Lume plots are perfectly preserved.

What makes this example stand out as well, is that it comes with the original Bucherer guarantee, invoice, purchase receipt, hang tag, and the green sticker on the back plus a nice wooden Rolex box. By observing the green sticker on the back, one can see that it shows signs of little wear.

The combination of the quality of the watch itself and the full set makes this 18206 certainly a great addition to every high-class collection.

I welcome and will respond to your request on my address: info@watchcollector.lu

Good ol days ---> Rolex 6239 Paul Newman, long "t swiss t"

 Dear watch aficionado.

Thinking about the good ol days with this beautiful Rolex 6239 Paul Newman three colour black dial, coming from the rare early production days with the long "t swiss t" signature. These early pieces are rare to find, especially in great condition as the present example. A really beautiful timepiece and they will certainly constantly gain in value.

Patek Philippe Deck Watch, Observatory Certificate

Case 600734, movement 178455

Manufactured 1921, Sold 1938, Gilded movement

Beyer Certificates, Patek Philippe letter and extract from archives

Gilt “extra quality” lever chronometer movement with two Geneva seals, Guillaume balance with gold and platinum poising and regulator screws, diamond end stone, blued steel hairspring with overcoil, swan neck regulator, all engravings and polishing are hand finished to the highest standard.

Massive silver dial with “grainé” finish and hand engraved and enameled inscriptions, roman numerals, Up/down indicator (36) at “12” and oversized small seconds and outer minute track, Patek Philippe signature with movement number.

What makes this example as well very special is that the movement is gilt finished combined with the silver case, as confirmed by the two Beyer certificates. I haven’t seen such a combination yet.

This timepiece is accompanied by the following five documents, which makes it more special and confirms its originality and history:

  1. .    Patek Philippe Extrait des Archives which quotes: “Geneva Observatory Timing Contests: 1st class test result in chronometer performance and honorable mention, manufactured in 1921 and sold in 1938.
  2.      Observatory timing Certificate which quotes “mention honorable”, Régleur C. Batifolier.
  3.       Patek Philippe letter to Beyer Chronométrie from 1987 confirming the originality.
  4.       Beyer certificate dated 1994, confirming the originality of the watch and that the movement had been serviced at the Beyer atelier
  5.      Beyer certificate after 2017, confirming the Patek letter from 1987, the Beyer certificate from 1994, the Patek extract from 2017, the originality of the watch and that the movement had been serviced at the Beyer atelier
